Hello and welcome to my webpage. My name is Earle McAuley, and it is a pleasure to be (back) at Gulf Breeze High School. My journey in education began when I was still in high school. I lettered in football, basketball, and lacrosse in Charlottesville, VA,; I knew as early as my 11th grade year that I wanted to teach and coach high school. With this in mind, I went to East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) where I played lacrosse (SELC) and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English.
Since then, I have taught English in Winston-Salem, NC; Chapel Hill, NC; Memphis, TN; and then Gulf Breeze, FL. In 2005 I left Gulf Breeze to help raise our four children and then in 2012 I began teaching at West Florida High School in Pensacola. I have coached football, basketball, lacrosse, track and, in a little known piece of trivia, I was the first ever girl’s weightlifting coach here at Gulf Breeze.
On a personal level, I just celebrated my 24th wedding anniversary to my beautiful wife Laura. We have four children and two dogs. I am an avid runner and have completed (slowly) five marathons.
I am very excited to teach 9th and 10th English and be the head boy’s lacrosse coach. We had a really good season last year and we are looking forward to trying to repeat as district champions. Go Dolphins!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. This is going to be awesome. I am going to leave you with two quotes: 1: Being good is the enemy of being great & 2: Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.
